A Bit About Me

Summer 2012 - Mayfield ParkMy name is JoAnne Nabors and I live in Austin, Texas with my two black labs, Barton & Kennedy.

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska before moving to Austin in 1984 to attend The University of Texas at Austin.  My roots in Austin go back to 1960 when my maternal grandfather was a professor at UT and both parents were in college at the University of Texas. I have lived in Central Austin since 1984 and also in Spicewood, Round Rock and Katy, Texas.

Currently, I am the Broker/Owner at Violet Crown Realty, a boutique Real Estate Brokerage in Central Austin.  Previously, I taught elementary school in Austin ISD and Katy ISD before earning a Master’s in Instructional Technology from UT. I worked as a web-developer and technology trainer for Central Texas school districts at Region 13.  While in graduate school, I began working with a 700+ student organization called “ECHO” at First EV Free Church.

After a lifetime of struggling with obesity, I made a series of changes in my lifestyle and habits to start a  journey of fitness.

Being a “learner” I have read hundreds of books on business strategies, self-help, motivation, success, organization, health & fitness, financial planning and various hobbies I have floated in and out of.  There was always a disconnect between what I KNEW and my ACTIONS.  Although I was making slow, incremental changes, I was never able to fully get in gear by myself.

The purpose of the site Synergize Success is to provide a platform to focus on, organize, and share what I believe is the “missing link” that enables one to make many permanent and lasting changes in life and fitness: The Help of Other People.

synergy = to work together  +  success = a favorable or desired outcome

Partners in my journey will be highlighted, Books that impacted me will be reviewed, Quotes that inspire me will be shared, and Race Reports will highlight many of the activities & events that have been milestones on my path of health & fitness.  My hope is that this site will help someone else have the courage & commitment to make their own life changes, regardless of the desired growth area, and that it will provide “shortcuts” so that the process is efficient and effective.

If you have any questions or need encouragement, please contact me!

The bottom line is: YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO!
